In addition to our hybrid-first policy, this in-person policy gives an overview of our we approach in-person connection at Charlie.
It’s been a journey for Charlie going from full-time in the office before the pandemic to now, where the team live across the UK and there’s no mandated office days.
We really value in-person connection at Charlie and want to provide clarity on how we approach it as a company.
Below you can find an overview of, and key parts to, the policy.
Function Meetups
- Purpose: To encourage functional and cross-functional collaboration and connection
- Frequency: Three times a year (Q1, Q2, Q3) with an optional Q4 meetup (Charlie Connect*)
- Budget: £60 per person
- Preset Dates: Managed by function leads with dates preset in the Charlie Google Calendar.
Charlie Connect
- Purpose: To facilitate team and squad meetups to foster collaboration and connection — providing added flexibility to the function meetup format
- Frequency: Once a year in Q4 (to replace the previous Q4 function meetup)
- Budget: £60 per person
- How to book: Through the Charlie platform using a "Charlie Connect" leave type
Hub Days
- Purpose: To promote in-person connection across different functions by setting up an office for the day in different UK cities throughout the year
- Frequency: Four times a year
- Dates and Locations:
- 12th September 2024 in Birmingham
- 4th December 2024 in London
- 13th February 2025 in Manchester
- 5th June 2025 in Leeds
- How to book: Sign up pages with more details will be sent three months prior to each Hub Day
