We want to build a workplace that combats the stigma against mental health and where people feel safe to bring their true selves to work. We believe we can do this through cultural initiatives and progressive policy. We ask that you’ll help us in creating a positive culture surrounding mental health; one where it’s not seen as taboo but as something we all have to deal with to varying degrees.
The aim of the policy is to give Charlini’s the tools they need to bring their best selves to work with access to long term strategies and more immediate support when it’s needed.
You can read more about how we designed our policy here.
What is Spill
Spill is our remote mental health support centre, accessible through Slack. Through the Slack bot, you can book a one-off session with a therapist or book a course of therapy — we all get six sessions a year
If you don’t want to jump on a call but still want advice you can send a question to a therapist and they’ll come back to you within 2-working days.
Spill is an accessible way to get therapy and a great foundation for supporting your mental wellbeing. Even if you think you’re doing ok and might not want therapy we can’t recommend enough using your sessions.
Other Spill offerings
Sick Leave
You can book sick leave at Charlie for your own mental or physical health or injury, as well as if you need to look after a dependant. You are entitled to 20 days in a 12 month rolling period, 20 days at 50%, and another 20 at 25% before you move to statutory pay.
Personal Days
At Charlie, we offer what we call Personal Days. These are for moments when you’re just feeling a bit off, and you get 4 per year to use.
Your Manager
You’ll discuss your wellbeing in your 1:1’s with your manager. Your manager is here to support you, empower you with the tools that Charlie offers and to make any reasonable adjustments (please see below) you might need.
Lean on them for support — all managers are given training to enable them to be the best managers possible and supporting the wellbeing of their team is a key part of this.
We promise you’ll always be treated with love and compassion and everything discussed with your manager will remain confidential unless we think you’re in danger.
